In the Segura river basin, only three bodies of water have been identified under the category of lake: the Laguna del Hondo, the salt lake of Pétrola and the Hoya Grande de Corral Rubio. Of these three lakes, two are considered highly modified water masses (the salt lagoon of Pétrola and Laguna del Hondo), being the only one considered as a natural water mass with lake category, the Hoya Grande de Corral-Rubio.
Natural surface water bodies of lake category
In order to classify these types of lakes considered as unmodified, the system B that establishes the WFD in Annex II and the classification developed by CEDEX at the national level has been used.
