The source of the Cartagena Canal is La Pedrera reservoir, at a height of 75.00, ending at La Guía road, near Cartagena, and it has a total length of 64.28 km.
Campo de Cartagena Intake Canal
With a maximum flow of 25 m³/s until km 43 where it changes section and its flow is reduced to 18 m³/s.
Entrance to Vistabella Tunnel
At km 40 it changes its section again and its flow rate is reduced to 12.68 m³/s. Fuente Alamo pumping station is located a few kilometres from the end of the latter.
Cross-sections of Campo de Cartagena Canal
With a maximum pumping capacity of 4.64 m³/s. It has six motor-pump sets with a total output of 750 kw, four of these sets allowing the pumping of water from level 65 to level 165, where there is a basin with a capacity of 0.25 million cubic metres. The other two do so until level 135.00 where there is another basin with a capacity of 0.15 million cubic metres.
After the Fuente Alamo pumping station, its section changes once again, and the flow is reduced to 10 m³/s.
