La Pedrera reservoir

La Pedrera is a tail reservoir regulating the Transfer waters, for the irrigation and supply of the areas of La Pedrera and Campo de Cartagena.

La Pedrera Reservoir

It is located in the Rambla de Alcoriza in the municipal district of Orihuela (Alicante). It has a capacity of 250 million cubic metres, of which 220 million cubic metres are for live storage, with a surface area of 1405 hectares.

Situated in a natural basin with no flow of its own and on soils of impervious bluish clayey loams. The reservoir consists of a dam and three dikes. The length of the crest is 716 m, it has a maximum height of 65.5 m and a freeboard of 5.5 m. The level of foundations is 45.00 and that of the crest is 110.54.

Dike I has a maximum height on the hill of 30 m and a crest length of 210 m.

Dike II has a maximum height on the hill of 29 m and a crest length of 190 m.

Dike III has a maximum height on the hill of 25 m and a crest length of 1240 m.
