There is a wide diversity of fauna associated with the rivers and their banks.
Among this wealth of fauna we can find species that live their whole life in the aquatic environment, such as insects, molluscs, crustaceans and fish.

Others spend their larval phase in the water and their adult phase on land, such as amphibians and some invertebrates.

Lastly, there are all the species that visit the river and its banks to find food, shelter, nesting sites, etc. This last group includes reptiles, birds and mammals.
