The main objective of the project is the decontamination and recovery of a 1.5 km section of the Guadalentín river as it passes through Lorca using phytoextraction measures. For this purpose, the use of indigenous accumulator plants is planned to absorb heavy metals and excess nutrients from the soil.

In addition, bioengineering and landscape integration techniques will be used to protect slopes and restore indigenous communities of flora and fauna. Taken together, these changes will provide plant cover and help mitigate soil erosion, restore sustainable ecological balance, that is compatible with its environment and that fully takes into account the needs of local people and traditional activities.
