Birth of the Segura River
Public consultation on the provisional Key Issues Outline of the hydrological planning process (revision for the 2028-2033 cycle)
On November 28, 2025, the Directorate General for Water of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge announced the opening of the public consultation period for the document "Provisional Outline of Key Issues" for the Segura River Basin District, relating to the fourth cycle of hydrological planning (2028-2033), together with the equivalent documents for the Western Cantabrian, Guadalquivir, Ceuta, Melilla, Segura, and Júcar River Basin Districts, and for the Spanish portion of the Miño-Sil, Duero, Tagus, Guadiana, Ebro, and Eastern Cantabrian River Basin Districts (within the scope of the General State Administration).
The Provisional Outline of Key Issues will be available for consultation for six (6) months, starting on November 29, 2025, at the headquarters and on this website of the Confederation.
Segura River Basin Authority, and within that period, contributions and any observations and suggestions deemed appropriate may be submitted to this Segura River Basin Authority, using the following contact information:

Public consultation of the initial documents of the hydrological planning process (reviewed for the 2028-2033 cycle)
On December 20, 2024, the Directorate General for Water of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge announced the opening of the public consultation period for the documents “Program, Calendar, General Study on the Demarcation and Consultation Forms,” which initiated the hydrological planning process for the fourth cycle (2028-2033) in the Segura River Basin District.
This process was carried out jointly with that of the Western Cantabrian, Guadalquivir, Ceuta, Melilla, and Júcar River Basin Districts, and the Spanish portion of the Eastern Cantabrian, Miño-Sil, Duero, Tagus, Guadiana, and Ebro River Basin Districts.
For a period of six months, starting the day after the aforementioned date, contributions to the documents and any observations and suggestions deemed appropriate could be submitted to the Segura River Basin Authority.O.A.
Once the aforementioned period has elapsed and the result of the public consultation process has been incorporated, the consolidated documents corresponding to the Segura Hydrographic Demarcation are indicated below:
